Use cases
Occupancy & utilization
Accurate occupancy data to reduce risk, increase safety, and get the most out of spaces
You can’t manage what you aren’t aware of
Gaps or ‘rough approximations’ in usage & occupancy data might lead to underutilization or unrecognized liability
Especially when facing limited resources, knowing where and when to best place personnel & use digital signage is critically important
Dynamic shifts in usage, such as with real-world events, can have outsized effects that make resource-balancing more complicated

A better way to gauge effect
Choose the tech you need
With support for both passive Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), our solution provides the flexibility needed to meet your operating conditions.
Real-time occupancy notifications
Get immediate alerts when an indoor or outdoor space gets overcrowded, allowing you to reallocate staff and resources, and prevent risks and liabilities

Ebb & flow
Examine patterns of activity & occupancy over time, allowing you to better anticipate shifts in demand & customer needs
Too many people, or not enough?
Up-to-date analytics reveal occupancy & usage over time, revealing how occupants are using spaces, if capacity is meeting demand, and where new opportunities are possible
Reliable outdoors
BlueZoo technology can cover outdoor areas as large as 30,000 square meters with a single sensor

Ironclad privacy
Maintain 100% compliance with GDPR standards while collecting accurate data, minimizing liability

“BlueZoo technology has given us the reliable, real-time data we were missing. Instead of guessing based on what promoters tell us—or not knowing at all—we can now see exactly how our building is being used. That helps us work with our insurance partners more effectively and prepare our facility and staff with much greater confidence.”

Kiosk and booth traffic
A smarter approach to track visitors and interaction
Measuring the foot-traffic of pop-up stores, of sales booths in an airport duty free area, or of a brand demo point in a larger retail store can be difficult because of the lack of physical boundaries around the location. There is further complexity because the location is not owned by the BlueZoo customer.
The BlueZoo sensor is deployed at the center of the space where visitors are to be measured.

BlueZoo then counts the number of visitors in three ranges: inside the inner perimeter; inside the outer perimeter, and beyond the outer perimeter. Stores want to maximize the share of the outer zone visitors that stop and spend time in the store to make a transaction. This is the calculated foot traffic “conversion ratio” between shoppers and the overall location traffic.
BlueZoo technology distinguishes between passersby and true shoppers by measuring dwell time. For example, if a shopper spends less than 1 minute striding through the inner zone to catch a flight in an airport, they might be considered a passerby, rather than a true shopper. By excluding passersby who are not true potential customers, BlueZoo customers can calculate true sales conversion rates: sales transactions per true shoppers.
A similar approach can be used inside a store to measure digital signage impact and define the conversion potential based on the overall area traffic. Using BlueZoo to measure visit counts and dwell times inside the inner perimeter versus outside, it’s easy to measure the stopping power of signage, whether print or digital.

Audience measurement
Get accurate, intelligent statistics for pricing advert impressions
Owners of out-of-home advertising media, like JCDecaux, use BlueZoo to measure consumer impressions. BlueZoo sensors are mounted on “street furniture” and report foot traffic, giving advertisers confidence that prices are justified.
Foot traffic on the pavement varies by time of day, and day of week. BlueZoo tracks visit and visitor counts at a 15-minute grain. But advertisers value unique visitor reach, as well as impressions. To calculate unique visitor reach and unique visitor recurrence, BlueZoo uses advanced analytics to maintain a rolling sum of unique visitors over the course of an advertising campaign, whether a day, a week, a month, or a custom period.
Measurement of unique visitors makes it possible to measure recurrence frequency. BlueZoo measures the recurring visits of unique visitors and can report them daily or at multi-day intervals. In the following chart, recurrence is aggregated into bins of 1, 2, 3, and 4+ visits during the campaign period.
