BlueZoo technology gets you a clearer picture of an audience, identifying people in places other tech struggles with

“Accurately measuring the numbers of impressions delivered is required to set fair pricing for each of BlueBillboard’s venues. While cost-per-thousand-impressions (CPMs) is determined by the locale, it is the specific number of impressions at each site that determines the value to and/or price paid by advertisers.”

In-store Retail Media Networks (RMN)

Audience measurement for in-store signage

Investment in in-store retail media networks (RMNs) has accelerated in the past two years, delivering in-store advertising as a revenue stream to retailers who want to leverage their real estate’s value.

Emarketer forecasts that in-store retail media spend will nearly triple over the next four years to 2028, surpassing $1 billion in the US market alone.

BlueZoo’s audience measurement solution constitutes a key element of a successful RMN program.  BlueZoo measures advertising impressions in order to justify the price of the advertising that retailers sell to brands.  This revenue is the “return” input in the calculation of return-on-investment performed by retailers for RMN.

Media owners have been setting advertising prices based on impressions measurement since the advent of out-of-home (OOH) advertising including billboards and street furniture.

OOH media owners of all sizes, from the world’s largest (i.e. JCDecaux) through mid-sized (e.g. Executive Channel Network) to industry upstarts (e.g. Blue BIllboard), rely on the BlueZoo solution for audience measurement and associated campaign analytics.

By either equipping their screen with a BlueZoo sensor or leveraging existing BrightSign players–both with the option of a directional antenna for smaller opportunity-to-see areas–retailers can measure key performance indicators (KPIs) including impressions, dwell time, and campaign reach.

Kiosk and booth traffic

A smarter approach to track visitors and interaction

Measuring the foot-traffic of pop-up stores, of sales booths in an airport duty free area, or of a brand demo point in a larger retail store can be difficult because of the lack of physical boundaries around the location. There is further complexity because the location is not owned by the BlueZoo customer.

The BlueZoo sensor is deployed at the center of the space where visitors are to be measured.

BlueZoo then counts the number of visitors in three ranges: inside the inner perimeter; inside the outer perimeter, and beyond the outer perimeter. Stores want to maximize the share of the outer zone visitors that stop and spend time in the store to make a transaction. This is the calculated foot traffic “conversion ratio” between shoppers and the overall location traffic.

BlueZoo technology distinguishes between passersby and true shoppers by measuring dwell time. For example, if a shopper spends less than 1 minute striding through the inner zone to catch a flight in an airport, they might be considered a passerby, rather than a true shopper. By excluding passersby who are not true potential customers, BlueZoo customers can calculate true sales conversion rates: sales transactions per true shoppers.

A similar approach can be used inside a store to measure digital signage impact and define the conversion potential based on the overall area traffic. Using BlueZoo to measure visit counts and dwell times inside the inner perimeter versus outside, it’s easy to measure the stopping power of signage, whether print or digital.
